Dr. Elgin E. Wells has built a remarkable career as a pioneer in the field of orthodontics and a dedicated advocate for community health. A proud graduate of Illinois College and Southern Illinois University, Dr. Wells pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the prestigious Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he also completed his orthodontic certification.

Dr. Wells’s journey reflects a commitment to excellence and service. As a former Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, he exemplified leadership and skill early in his career. Later, he became a trailblazer in Houston, Texas, as the first African-American orthodontist in the city and the second in the state. Through his private practice, Dr. Wells transformed countless smiles while breaking barriers for minority professionals in dentistry.

Beyond his practice, Dr. Wells is an active contributor to the community. His passion for mentoring and improving access to oral healthcare has made him an influential figure in both professional circles and local initiatives. He regularly participates in advanced training and continuing education, staying at the forefront of his field.

Dr. Wells is also a family man, cherishing time with his wife, Carolyn, their children, and grandchildren. His legacy is one of perseverance, innovation, and dedication to advancing health and wellness within the community.
